Substance Misuse Doctor

Seven Resourcing are recruiting an experienced Substance Misuse Doctor to support a specialist community service in East Sussex. This is an excellent locum opportunity for a doctor with experience in addiction medicine who is looking for flexible, well-paid work within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
The role focuses on delivering high-quality clinical care to adults with drug and alcohol dependency, supporting recovery through evidence-based medical interventions and close partnership working.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments for individuals with substance misuse issues
- Prescribe and manage opioid substitution therapy and other pharmacological interventions
- Provide medical reviews, risk assessments, and treatment planning
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including recovery workers, nurses, and psychosocial practitioners
- Manage complex cases involving dual diagnosis and physical or mental health comorbidities
- Ensure safe prescribing practices in line with national guidance and local protocols
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
- Support safeguarding processes for adults and children at risk
- Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and service improvement initiatives
Requirements
- GMC-registered Doctor with a valid licence to practise
- Experience working within substance misuse or addiction services
- Competence in prescribing for drug and alcohol dependence
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk management
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
